The back of the back has three rings--two on the bottom, one on top--so you can hook one end of the leather carry strap to either bottom ring, run it through the top ring and fasten the other hook to the other bottom ring letting you wear it as a backpack. To use it as a shoulder bag, hook both the strap's hooks on one of the bottom rings.
